Last spring Ron Prince of PrinceCiples, Inc. asked LLB Designs for a logo update as well as help with some new business cards, letterhead and website design. The new branding materials are clean, sharp and attractive, with a bold blue and white color scheme and professional, classic fonts.

The new PrinceCiples website is a WordPress theme, edited to blend with the rest of the company’s branding and to fit their specific content needs. While a developer handled the more technical aspects of building the site, LLB Designs coordinated the images, colors, fonts and layout. WordPress websites are fairly simple to update, include built-in search engine customization, and are a relatively inexpensive way to get an impactful web presence up and running in a shorter amount of time. The PrinceCiples site includes dynamic rotating images on the home page, custom graphics and downloadable interactive PDF files.

On May 26, 2011 they will host the 49ers Bowl for Youth event, with proceeds benefiting the Bayview Hunters Point YMCA, Simon Youth Foundation, and the 49ers Foundation. This evening not only involves bowling, great food and beverages, silent auctions and raffles, but also promises to feature a bunch of Niner legends including Dwight Clark, John Taylor, Keena Turner, Guy McIntyre and Dennis Brown.

LLB Designs got to design a logo for the event, as well as the save-the-date postcard. Both were a blast to work on and incorporated simple bowling illustrations along with the bold 49ers color pallette. It can be tricky incorporating a bunch of smaller logos into one event logo, but this one gets it done nicely while maintaining a clean, uncluttered look.

LLB Designs again partnered up with Dropcam to update the growing company’s quick reference card, as well as a couple of new projects including a review guide and a packaging sticker. Stylized illustrations emphasize three of the subjects that Dropcam users like to look at most: pets, kiddos and homes, while keeping the overall feel simplistic to mirror the product’s easy-to-use technology. A 3″ circle sticker was also developed for the packaging, a cost-effective way to add a splash of Dropcam branding (and wit!) to the otherwise functional mailing box.

Next up was a review guide, designed to catch the attention of potential reviewers and media and to play up the benefits of the product and technology. Clean design, consistent colors and impactful images compliment clever copy developed by the very fun Stage Two, a bay area strategic marketing and media relations firm that specalizes in consumer technology.

One of the best things about the the San Francisco 49ers is that they are as active in the community as they are on the football field. The 49ers Foundation, whose mission is “Keeping Kids Safe, on Track and in School,” leverages the well known NFL team and players to raise money for community programs for underserved youth in the Bay Area. So tally that up as a win! LLB Designs was asked to create a little handout highlighting some of the Foundation’s key stats including the $10 million that has been given back to the community, the fun events that make it possible, and the well-deserving organizations receiving grants through the foundation. The 4.25 x 11” card combines football imagery with photos from actual 49ers Foundation events, including a great shot of team owners Denise and John York interacting with the kids. Digital printing with an aqueous coating kept the project both polished and cost effective, and the unique size makes for flexible marketing collateral that can serve as a stand-alone piece and also works well alongside other team and foundation materials.

While a lot of traditional business memos, letters and the like are now replaced with e-mail, the need for custom letterhead does still exist. The good news is that long-gone are the days where young businesses had to shell out hundreds of dollars for thousands of sheets of letterhead. Digital printers can handle smaller quantities at very reasonable prices. Others take it a step further and create soft-copy templates in Microsoft Word, which gives them the ability to either distribute electronically or print in-house on an an as-needed basis. Custom letterhead with your company’s look reinforces your branding, so look for opportunities to use it: invoices, fax cover sheets, thank you letters…all great ways to remind people who you are and what you do.

And speaking of YOU, do you have personal stationery as well? Notecards, with either your name or that of your company, are a great way to add a personal feel to your business. Sending a quick hand-written note to thank someone that referred business to you, re-introducing yourself to someone you met at an event or congratulating someone that is celebrating something exciting is a perfect opportunity to show that you genuinely care.

Attorney Parker Layrisson of Ponchatoula, LA, is undergoing a name change and recently tapped LLB Designs to help develop a new identity package. An updated logo, business cards, letterhead and envelopes were all on the list and it was also important to the client to maintain consistency with the firm’s old brand while transitioning to an updated look. We kept the colors and much of the overall layout the same, but updated the font to a slightly more classic style and adjusted the typography to work with the new name. LLB Designs provided color and black and white versions of the new logo in both print and web-appropriate file types, as well as a cheat-sheet outlining the fonts and color breakdown as a reference for future use. A local printer printed the letterhead, envelopes and business cards, and the final result is very clean and professional, fitting right in with the rest of the firm’s existing branding.
