The Mountain View Police Activities League (MVPAL) is a very cool community service organization benefiting at-risk youth. MVPAL offers recreational and leadership opportunities to kids, with the goal of building understanding and communication between youth and police officers, which in turn diverts the kids from gangs and crime. So again, very cool! MVPAL is holding a fundraiser gala in the fall and LLB Designs was asked to provide design services for some fun pieces including save the dates and invitations. The save the dates, pictured above, were designed to be a simple, cost-effective postcard featuring the organization’s logo and color palette. The theme of the event, “Celebrate MVPAL’s Rock Stars”, is prominent and uses a police badge in the typography to reinforce the backbone of the event. Shoreline Ampitheatre in Mountain View is donating their venue for the event, and a stylized representation of the facility’s distinct silhouette frames the design and adds a bit of visual interest. And to top it all off, the printing was generously donated by Google, which is also based in Mountain View, CA.

Remember this sassy bride-to-be?  When it came time for all of the actual knot-tying to take place some of her nearest and dearest got together to throw her a bridal luncheon the morning of the big day. The dress code was deemed “flip flop casual”, and a request was put in for a “festive wildflowery” invitation. LLB Designs got on it and the result was this floral invite with happy colors and scripty fonts for a look and feel that is casual and whimsical, but of course still appropriate for a wedding day event. Congrats, again, to the new Mr. and Mrs.!

This little gal has a first birthday coming up, and her active social life officially requires some stationery so she can keep up with her personal correspondence. LLB Designs was happy to help! These personalized note cards combine a cheeky floral pattern and an updated version of the illustration from her blog header and shower invite. The petite size is perfect for a thank you note, to enclose with a gift or a quick hello to a friend. Now all she needs is some help with the penmanship…

…holding hands by holding tails! These simple but sweet baby boy shower invitations combine soft colors and a floral pattern with roly-poly elephant illustrations for a fresh take on a jungle theme. The invites were such a hit that matching notecards were commissioned as a gift for the mom-to-be, and we’re told a matching cake was on hand as well. Sweet!

This special couple has been together since pre-school (almost), and somehow managed to make it all the way to the end of their 20’s without a surprise party. That ended with Bryan’s 30th, and what a party it was. Flowers (on every surface available), top notch food and A-list guests all came together for one heck of an evening.

Asked by the stylish hostess to create the invitations, LLB Designs incorporated blue and brown colors for a fresh and not too girly palette. And of course the number one fear when planning a surprise party is the honoree catching on, so a little reminder reading “Shhh….it’s a surprise” was printed on the back of the invites and positioned to be the first thing guests saw when opening the invitation. While all of these little details help, there’s no getting around the fact that the photo of the birthday boy steals the show. Just as it should.

This neat couple from Houston, TX, had a small, intimate family wedding and then was kind enough to let LLB Designs create their wedding announcements to share the news with the rest of their extended family and friends. With fun, whimsical engagement photos and jaw-droppingly gorgeous wedding photos from Magnolia Photography there was plenty of great material to work with.

The result? A 5×7 gatefold with the couple’s smiling faces on the front cover. The inside features elegant photos from the ceremony and the back leaves us with a casual engagement shot and the couple’s “At home” information. We love that all of all of their family and friends get a peek inside the wedding and the bride commented that many of the recipients were honored to receive such a personal wedding announcement. Congratulations, Megan and Ben!

This beautiful bride from Dallas, TX is planning a hill country wedding in Austin this spring, and she was sweet enough to let LLB Designs help with her save the dates. While her venue and dress are somewhat formal, it was important to her to set the tone of the event as relaxed and not too stuffy. She also came prepared with some gorgeous engagement photos that are a perfect blend of casual and chic. Thoughtful cropping and a sepia treatment worked together to bring the photo centerstage, and simple but pretty typography relayed the details in a subtle but graceful way. Congratulations to the lovely couple, and best wishes as you finalize the plans for what is sure to be a stunning hill country wedding!

A couple of years ago we at LLB Designs got to work on this couple’s colorful fiesta shower invitations, and just a year or so ago wrapped up their change-of-address cards when they bought a new home.  So it probably should come as no surprise that next up is a baby shower invitation! The adorable hostesses planning the shindig wanted to play off of the couple’s illustration from their fiesta wedding shower, and also tie in the Texas-chic theme of a backyard BBQ. Awesome.

Gender-neutral colors, a western font, and an updated illustration of the happy couple (including any new baby bumps and Schnauzers) all came together for a cute and one-of-a-kind look. Little insert cards gave guests the opportunity to offer advice to the future parents, adding an even more personalized touch to the event. At the party guests enjoyed coordinating cups featuring a one-color version of the custom illustration. These doubled as a great little favor for everyone to take home, and because they’re reusable they had the added eco-friendly benefit of replacing disposable cups that would have otherwise been tossed after the party. Matching brown napkins tied it all together and we prove once again it’s the details that make an event really stand out.  Well done, hostesses, and congrats again to the parents-to-be!

Everybody loves a surprise party and we here at LLB Designs are no exception; especially when we get to help out with the invitations. This family planned a special reunion and surprise party for their grandmother’s 80th birthday in St Leonard, Quebec. The party was held the first weekend in December, so winter colors and frosted images were the perfect fit.

Because some guests live in the states and others in Canada, the family thoughtfully chose to include reply cards so that guests wouldn’t have to make long distance phone calls to RSVP. The outside of the final piece was a serene aqua gatefold with snow-topped branches and bright pops of berry red. The inside packs a bit more punch with a stunning red background and much talk of toasts and surprises.

This lucky little boy was not only adopted by two fantastic, not to mention ecstatic, parents, he also now gets to call One World Farm his new home. While most kids have to beg for a pet dog little Kai will have an entire menagerie of dogs, donkeys, sheep, chickens and goats at his disposal. Lucky indeed! We at LLB Designs were thrilled to be asked to design birth and adoption announcements for the little guy, and in the end we settled on a simple A2 card. The classic colors and elegant layout are balanced out by the fun (but not too cutesy) animals that add a touch of subtle and unique personalization.  Congratulations to the Mitschke family!
